BUDGET 2012 Chancellor George Osborne is cutting the top 50p tax rate to 45p from April 2013. The personal tax allowance is to rise to £9,205 in April 2013.  The chancellor is also introducing a new rate of stamp duty on expensive homes. The corporate tax rate is coming down to 24% in April and to 22% by 2014.

Ian Brealey and the 5 man team at Brealey Foster deal with the accounting and tax affairs of 50 limited companies and 200 sole traders and partnerships in Hinckley Lecestershire.  Each year a student from Sheffield Hallam university joins us as a tax junior.  We have particular expertise in special work and lengthy evidenced based reports of all kinds.  In May 2011 we celebrate 50 years of service particularly to the legal profession.  A chief justice once said that the judiciary had to be masters of a thousand arts but accountancy was one that could be left to our profession.  UK Accountants are called upon every day to certify both the accuracy and reasonableness of the numbers on which people make decisions and strike bargains.

Ian writes "As a 20 year old I joined the famous audit firm KPMG in London.  There on the special work side I became responsible for the fieldwork of the advisory to the Sudanese central bank. On 20th October 2010 I was pleased to attend the dinner to celebrate the opening of the new KPMG building in Canary Wharf London, the 30th anniversary of I and my fellows joining the firm.  As young auditors, we were privileged to learn about a wide variety of business public and private from the inside.  Being a chartered accountant is one of the best ways of developing people skills, communication and business skills, leadership, and working both independently and as part of a team.

For me becoming a chartered accountant gave me the best possible foundation.  Brealey Foster clients range from local businesses to international organizations.  All clients receive my personal attention particularly young entrepreneural startups.

I love agriculture and have come to work in the supply of agricultural plant oils like Lavender.  Since 1974 Shirley Price Aromatherapy Ltd, an international aromatherapy company, has supplied 244 fine essential oils and plants oils, natural cosmetics, natural perfume and professional training.  My son George is technical manager.  Over 6000 students have passed through the Shirley Price college learning aromatherapy massage treatments and holistic skincare.  There are many fans of the Company's products in 40 countries worldwide.  The founders Len and Shirley Price retired in 1998 but continue to update their best selling publications with a new edition of Aromatherapy for Health Professionals in 2011.  It is not well known but Hinckley is a centre for essential oils sourced from farmers all over the world. 90% of production is exported   You can find the Shirley Price factory and shop opposite tesco.

In 2003-5 Brealey Foster acted in the business planning leading to successful planning permission and grant of £2.6m EU funding for an associated highway as part of a £60m regeneration project in Camp Hill Nuneaton, Warwickshire.

offshore companies? overseas domicile while working in the UK? offshore employee share schemes? nah not interested.  Not at all.  Personally I and my business partners and some 360 Brealey Foster clients have paid millions of pounds every year in legimate corporate and personal taxation albeit structured in such a way that we pay no more than our fair share.  This is only right in support of public services and in particular in support of our navy, army and airforce.  Whats in our quiet way we have been leaders in charitable donations.  If someone give their any part of their income by way of charitable donation why should they be taxed on that?
